London, the UK’s capital city, is a city that’s world famous for a great many things, such as Buckingham Palace, where Queen Elizabeth II lives with the royal family, the Houses of Parliament, and of course, the London Eye. But London is much more than landmarks and sightseeing, because it’s also a great city to travel to with your family, your friends, and even your significant other.
London, as you might expect, is a very busy city, and depending on the time of year that you travel to the city, there will always be something different to do, to see and even to hear as you travel along London’s busy and unforgettable streets. The summer will be one of the best, but also the busiest times of the year to visit, as thousands, if not millions of other tourists will have had the same idea as you, and with the London Olympics coming up in 2012, the city is sure to get a lot busier. However, that’s not to say that you shouldn’t travel to London during the summer months, when you want to travel is entirely up to you and what you want to do.
In terms of things to do, London has a bit of everything, from theatre, to film, to shopping, to sightseeing, to fine dining and clubbing, there really is something for everyone to do while they;re there. Theatre is a huge part of the London scene, and the west end is probably one of the most famous theatre districts in the world, after Broadway in New York, of course, and so, if you feel like it, head down to some of London’s most famous theatres, such as the Young Vic and the new Harold Pinter theatre, which was formerly The Comedy Theatre.
If shopping is more your thing, then London shopping can be a rewarding and very exclusive experience, and if you can afford to go shopping on Bond Street, then do, as some of the world’s best designers and retailers are based there. Other shopping areas in London are very famous and popular, such as Hamley’s, a leading toy shop, and Harrod’s, an exclusively department store in the heart of London.
